The End of Summer and the Oak Grove Butterfly Festival

I was poorly prepared for Michaelmas this year, it was our first year celebrating. We only decorated the nature table and told the story of Saint George and the Dragon. Maybe I will be prepared enough to have a feast next year.  Despite the lack of Michaelmas festivities, we still managed to have a wonderful weekend. We attended the Oak Grove Butterfly Festival. Cody has been obsessed with butterflies the last few months, and he had been looking forward to the release for weeks! We prepared by reading The Story of the Butterfly Children by Sibylle Von Olfers. It is a lovely story and one of my favorite Waldorf books. My kids especially love the little Chrysalids in the story. The butterfly release was beautiful, they released over 900 butterflies this year. It was a wonderful sight to see.
